Maths Tutuoring Sessions

Welcome to our Year 5 and 6 Maths Tuition, where we make maths engaging, understandable, and enjoyable! Our lessons are designed to target the areas that matter most for Years 5 and 6. Here’s a look at some of the core topics we cover:

1. Number and Place Value

• Read, write, and compare numbers up to 10 million.
• Develop a strong understanding of place value to support problem-solving in other areas.

2. Four Operations (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division)

• Master formal written methods and mental calculations.
• Practice multi-step problems to improve speed  and accuracy.
• Develop problem-solving strategies to tackle challenging questions.

3. Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages

• Understand and calculate fractions, including improper fractions and mixed numbers.
• Convert between fractions, decimals, and percentages with ease.
• Solve fraction and percentage problems, building a deep understanding of proportionality.

4. Measurement

• Work with metric and imperial units for length, weight, and capacity.
• Learn to calculate area, perimeter, and volume, including for complex shapes.
• Solve practical measurement problems that link maths to real life.

5. Geometry (Shapes and Angles)

• Recognize and classify different shapes and their properties.
• Calculate angles, understand symmetry, and explore transformations.
• Use coordinates to describe positions in all four quadrants.

6. Statistics

• Interpret and construct bar charts, line  graphs, and pie charts.
• Develop data analysis skills, including  finding averages and understanding probability basics.

7. Algebra (Year 6)

• Explore introductory algebra, including simple equations and sequences.
• Build a foundation in algebra to prepare for secondary school maths.
